What is The Missing Ingredient?

The Missing Ingredient is a monthly subscription service that delivers 4-5 tasty product samples to your doorstep in a cool box. The samples ranged from spices and seasonings to gadgets, oils & vinegars to sweets and treats. All of these products were hand-picked by our culinary experts and know our customers loved them!

In February 2016, the Missing Ingredient shut down their online store to new subscriptions and focused on their existing customers as they began to wind down the service. For more information about the decision, please visit www.wellseasoned.ca/

What kind of brands can I expect in my Missing Ingredient Box?

We always do our best to provide an assortment of well known gourmet name brands in each box but we also love to have an opportunity to showcase artisan (small batch) Canadian made products, names that you will not be familiar with but will be pleased to discover. We are constantly looking to find tasty & useful new products to include in our gift boxes. Or, if you have a favorite local producer in your area please feel free to email us with their details so we can get to know them and possibly share their tasty wares with all of our customers.

What made the Missing Ingredient different?

At a grocery store, you can find all of the national name brands and all of the ordinary products you will need to prepare a basic meal at home. Your Missing Ingredient box provided you with *culinary inspiration* and the opportunity to access hard to find ingredients and a chance to cook “outside of the box”; a chance to try something new and delicious. 

While the Missing Ingredient service is shutting down, you can expect the same kind of *culinary inspiration* in our Well Seasoned gift baskets and boxes whether it is a themed gift, or a custom order designed to get your friends and family cooking something new!

Can you customize the Missing Ingredient to suit my tastes?

Missing Ingredient Gift Giving

Missing Ingredient subscriptions made a great gift and while our service is winding down, you can still get great gifts from Well Seasoned. When will my first Missing Ingredient box be sent out?

We ship out our boxes once a month, in the middle of the month. If we receive your Missing Ingredient order on or before the 7th of the month it will be sent out that month, if we receive it after that date your Missing Ingredient box will be sent the following month. Example; order received April 7th ships April 15th – order received April 8th, ships May 15th.

Will my credit card be charged automatically each month?

We’ve recently changed our service so that subscriptions are not automatically renewed at expiry. If you sign up for a 1-month box, you’ll be billed only once. If you sign up for a 3-month subscription, you will pay for all 3 months up front.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We are happy to cancel your Missing Ingredient subscription at anytime without any cancellation fees. However, we are unable to refund payments that have already been processed. To cancel future payments, please email subscriptions@missingingredient.ca and we will cancel your recurring subscription. Cancellations received before the 1st of the month will apply to the following month’s shipment.

Can I change my account or shipping address?

You can log into your account to view or change your shipping address anytime you like.

How can I sign up?

As of February 2016, we are no longer taking new subscriptions for the Missing Ingredient; however, gourmet gifts are still available through Well Seasoned, the gourmet food store behind the Missing Ingredient project. I love the products in my Missing Ingredient box and I want more! Can I order a refill?

You bet! We are thrilled that you like your missing ingredients as much as we do and we would be happy to sell you more! You can e-mail us an order and it will be shipped out just as soon as possible. You don’t have to wait until your next subscription box goes out, you can get it right away.

What if I don’t know what to do with my missing ingredients?

Don’t worry, we won’t leave you hanging! Every Missing Ingredient box has product descriptions and tips explaining each of the items. We will also have tips, tricks and secrets from our fantastic line up of Chefs and experts that will provide you with a ton of ideas. After you open your box, if you have more specific questions you can always find us on Twitter, Facebook and on email where we will be more than happy to answer your questions and give you even more ideas on how to utilize your missing ingredients.

After February 2016, our online resources will be moving to wellseasoned.ca; however, you can always contact us at askachef@wellseasoned.ca for inspiration or more information on what to do with products you have received from the Missing Ingredient.

How do I redeem a Gift Certificate code?
