After 4 years, we’re starting to shut down the Missing Ingredient subscription service. It has been a great learning experience for our team and while we know that we are going to disappoint many of our loyal, annual subscribers, a few factors (especially the cost of postage in Canada) has encouraged us to make this decision and move in another direction.
All CURRENT Missing Ingredient customers will continue to receive their remaining subscriptions until we have satisfied all of our current commitments. Following February 2017 (to honour all new subscriptions last month), we will be shutting down the Missing Ingredient permanently. All of the recipes, chef’s tips and meet the maker features will move over to the Well Seasoned website in the coming weeks: www.wellseasoned.ca Please visit us there and we hope to see you in store or online soon.

May’s Missing Ingredient box also included two bottles from the fantastic Robert Rothschild Farm.
Arugula Pesto: The aromatic salad green, arugula, is blended with salty, aged parmesan cheese and walnuts to create this refreshing pesto. Consider blending it with a can of cannellini beans for a quick dip or top toasted slices of bread for an elegant crostini.
Pineapple Habanero Dip: Roasted pineapples, mangos and the robust flavour of habanero peppers are combined for this tropical sauce with subtle heat.
Here’s a comment one of our customers sent us after receiving her January box:
I opened the first box, withholding expectation, not wanting to disappointed, trying to be cool, “Oh, well, what would you REALLY expect?” The tissue paper was pristine, which added to the anticipation. YAY–HAPPY DANCE! This is awesome. A couple of ingredients were truly things that were “missing”–stuff I had been meaning to buy so I could try recipes that had crossed my path. Some were items I wouldn’t have bought, but am excited to try to see if they are better than what I already have. Finally some (yes there are that many items–7 plus cards) are just nice luxury ingredients to have around for the right recipe. Thanks! I am so pleased. I will have lots to play with til next month!
Another great response from our January box:
We made the Butter Chicken spice package you included in our January box and it was “THE BEST” I think I have ever had, anywhere in the world. We pigged out and ate the whole thing, no leftovers what so ever. Thanks so much for the fantastic ingredients – we are having some GREAT MEALS!

And another great testimonial from the November boxes:
I just received my first box of goodies, Angie you rock. This was a awesome idea and what a great way to get others to explore new and exciting cooking ideas. I just love it.
…Karen Humphey (@scatteredmom).
Congrats Karen on your winning the November Share the Word and Win contest! We really appreciate your help (and the help of everyone who participated) to get the word out about the Missing Ingredient.
We didn’t quite make 500 likes on Facebook – but we’re continuing the contest through December! Starting on December 1st, the contest will reset and you’ll have another chance to win a month free. If we reach our 500 likes goal on Facebook by December 30th – we’ll give away a second one-month-free prize to another participant.
Get ready to Share the Word in December…and WIN!
…and speedy Canada Post has already delivered most of the shipment! If you haven’t yet received your Missing Ingredient box for November, you should be receiving it this week. Keep your eyes on the mailbox.
(Don’t forget to send us a picture of you receiving your delivery or using your ingredients so we can add them to our Facebook group!)
This week, we’ll be doing a write up on some of the products that you received in your delivery here so that you can learn more about them, and find out where to go to get more information about these great products.
Note: Oops! We were so excited to get this first shipment out that a few of the postcards and labels show http://www.themissingingredient.ca. No worries, both URLs will get you here, but if you want to bookmark the site, we suggest you bookmark http://missingingredient.ca. Let us know if you noticed anything out of the ordinary with your delivery – we value your feedback and we want to provide you the best possible experience. Let us know.
We officially launch this week online and we need your help to spread the word!
To thank you for your help and to celebrate our launch in Canada, we’re hosting a contest for a free month of the Missing Ingredient! Entering is easy. If you follow this link, you can sign up using your email address and you’ll be entered in the contest. Once you sign up, you’ll be taken to a page where you can share the word via Facebook (likes) and Twitter mentions. For each “share”, you’ll be given 5 additional entries into the contest.
We’re giving away one month free for sure – but if we hit 500 likes on Facebook, we’ll give away another prize for a month free (double your chances!). If we hit 1,000 likes on Facebook (wow!), we’ll give away another one-month prize!
We look forward to seeing you online!
It’s official, we’re live! Thanks to all who came to our Well Seasoned & The Missing Ingredient booth at this year’s Home & Design Show.
We’ve posted some pictures from the weekend on our Facebook group (don’t forget to Like us when you’re there) here: http://www.facebook.com/missing.ingredient
